Danilo Russo

Prof. Danilo Russo is an associate professor of Ecology at Naples University Federico II and a honorary member at the University of Bristol, UK. His interests include habitat selection, resource partitioning, sensory ecology, social behaviour, evolutionary biology, biogeography, and invasion ecology. Much of his research focuses on bats but he also works on a range of other model organisms to answer the specific questions he is interested in.

Since 2019 he has been chairing the Scientific Committee of the UNEP/EUROBATS Agreement (i.e., the Agreement on the Conservation of Populations of European Bats). Prof. Russo proudly serves as the editor-in-chief of the top-ranking zoological journal Mammal Review. He is also the main proposer and the chair of the Management Committee of the EU COST Action “CLIMBATS” (CA18107).

Prof. Russo has published over 140 scientific articles in internationally respected journals including Nature Communications, Ecology Letters and Biological Reviews, and has an Hindex = 36. He has conducted fieldwork in many regions and environments across the globe, from African rainforests to Israeli desert and European beech woodlands.
