Dr Kit M Kovacs is a marine mammal ecologist who leads the Biodiversity Section for the Norwegian Polar Institute. n addition, she is an adjunct professor in the University Studies on Svalbard (UNIS), Department for Arctic Biology. Most of her research programs involve ice-affiliated seals and whales. 

 

She is the author of more than 300 primary science publications and 10+ books. Kit has had the pleasure of working with more than 50 graduate students over the period of her career.

Currently, climate change impacts are a focal point in much of her research.
